Ingredients
These wild-crafted, certified organic, sweet, chewy, dried Black Mulberries burst with a nectar-like flavor. A delightful grab-n-go snack or addition to your sweet treats. Mulberries are an excellent source of iron, vitamin C, calcium and protein. Reservatrol is a powerful antioxidant found in these mature black mulberries and is also known to be present in red wine.
Wild-Crafted Black Mulberries:
Our wild-crafted, certified organic black mulberries are from natural, secluded and organically certified reserve in Uzbekistan, which lies in Central Asia along the famous Silk Road.
The black mulberry trees are huge old specimens of the rare Morus Alba variety and are commonly called Black Mulberries, even though they are golden in color. Their advanced age allows them to produce prolifically. In fact, they are manually harvested 3 times each season, yielding about 500 kilos of mulberries per tree. The berries are harvested by shaking ripe berries from the tree into nets. The mulberries are then carefully selected for premium quality and sun dried to optimize natural sweetness. They are hand sorted, one by one, to ensure only the finest of the bunch make it into our bags.
We have specifically chosen these White Mulberries for their ancient resonance and their magnificent social and environmental benefits. They simply taste better - chewier, sweeter, and more unique in coloration.
History of the Mulberry: Since ancient times, mulberries have been highly valued. The trees were carried along the Silk Road from China to Turkey. Mulberry leaves are the sole food source of silk worms. They eat of the leaf of the mulberry tree and out comes delicate silk. Silk worms certainly must understand something spectacular about the mulberry. The berries themselves were a celebrated food by humans, traded and savored for their heavenly sweetness.
Health Benefits: In Chinese Medicine, mulberries are classified as a blood tonic.
In the Dut Village of Turkey, traditional medicine uses them to treat stomach ulcers and anemia.
Resveratrol: Mulberries are a good source of resveratrol, a plant compound also found in red wine grapes. Resveratrol is an antioxidant compound that combats free-radical damage.
Protein: One of the few fruits to be considered a protein source - 3 grams per ounce
Rich in iron, calcium, Vitamin C, and fiber.
