The fruit of pomegranate is between 6 and 12 cm tall, round and has a leathery skin, which is yellowish to reddish when ripe. The pomegranate has been cultivated for more than 5000 years and is one
of the oldest plants of mankind. Its native country is located in
western to central Asia. It was introduced into the Roman Empire by the
Phoenicians, who regarded it as a sacred plant. Even the name,
